EXPLOITATION DEATH CAR MOVIE APTLY TITLED 'CRASH!'

Black car of death in CRASH!
A killer car movie, that is, a movie about a car that kills, that is very underrated was directed by Charles Band and involves LOLITA starlet Sue Lyon in her thirties, whose character controls the vehicle with a Satanic necklace on her hospital bed after being attacked by her rich husband's doberman, which came out during the 1970's, around the time when THE CAR hit theaters, and possible while author Stephen King, who was just starting out, had his own future story, CHRISTINE, in mind...

What makes this killer car different is its a convertible, making it easy to see that there is no driver... Cops or angry motorists get perturbed by the mere site of it, trying to take it down, only to CRASH!, the name of the movie, into burning, roadside flames: Here's a Cult Film Freak Review of this Charles Band exploitation piece...

TWO DESERT CARAVANS

Spanish Caravan take me away... Take me to Vegas, take me to...
In CORVETTE SUMMER, Mark Hamill's Kenny Dantley, having left home, is venturing to Las Vegas through the sandy desert heat, and catches a ride from a caravan of lowriders...

Meanwhile, in RETURN OF THE JEDI, Hamill's Luke Skywalker, back home on Tatooine, is being taken by a caravan of sail barges to his execution. Kenny never seemed so lucky.

PAGE 2-4 OF THE CORVETTE SUMMER SCREENPLAY

Kenny Dantley in the throes of creation
We begin the next few pages of the awesome CORVETTE SUMMER screenplay inside the noisy autoshop where Kenny begins reconstructing the car, almost from scratch...

Mr. McGrath is giving a pep talk on the job at hand: to build this new hot rod... Something he has financial gain for, although we, and Kenny, don't now this yet...

Too much time in auto shop makes Kenny a dull student
Our next scene has another teacher... This one not so nice... Actually we cut back here from auto shop class, where Kenny feels at home, to history...

And symbolism is always fun, so when the scene begins with an uptight and probably out-of-touch teacher lecturing the class on being bad students, we get a closeup on a dinosaur skeleton...

The camera lifts from this prehistoric creature's reconstructed fossil and we then see the teacher, Mr. Hefferman, passing out the bad news... These scenes switchback to the autoshop class...

FRAME BY FRAME: "EASY... KEEP IT COMIN'!"

Mark Hamill's Kenny guides her in...
Frame 2 takes us just past the junkyard scene, and since the CS Jedi already covered this rudimentary segment quite extensively in earlier posts, we'll go right to where Kenny takes the Corvette skeleton to the high school auto shop garage...

This is where the orange shell becomes a sort of Frankenstein's monster... It would take a brilliant young man to turn this into something grande...

And the next few frames, in upcoming segments, will center on this fantastic transition...
Some things must be done in private...
Thus, closing the door, where the real work can be done...

FRAME BY FRAME: JUNKYARD SHADOW

FRAME BY FRAME NUMBER ONE
On our CORVETTE SUMMER JEDI odyssey, going frame by frame for the entire film, with two frames per post, two per week, we begin with a shadow on a white car, really close up and then realize, through the busy, cranky noises, that we're at a junkyard...

A dilapidated white car, hanging on a girder, moves away from the stagnant camera... And thus we begin our adventure...

MARK HAMILL ON THE MUPPETS

Thanks Parisa PH for contributing this on twitter...
When STAR WARS was all the craze, actor Mark Hamill appeared on THE MUPPET SHOW, playing himself but most importantly, Luke Skywalker... PIGS IN SPACE could really use a Jedi and dang it, they got one!

Thanks for the coolest CS fan, Parisa PH, for posting this originally on tumblr...
